Session Type: Structured Poster Session
Connected Learning is a framework to help us understand and address changes arising from rapidly shifting social, economic, cultural and technological contexts; it centers on an equity agenda by examining ways youth learn given their wider access to information, technology, and interest-driven communities. To date, the focus of connected learning has primarily been on informal learning and online communities. This session presents research exploring ways to bridge the home-school gap, connecting these informal spaces in order to re-energize youth during school experiences. Our collective research offers ways to undercover and build capacity, connecting in-and-out of school practices, by exploring youth interests, identities, making, and STEAM learning as opportunities to acknowledge these pathways and connect them to learning.
