Abstract

This symposium panel brings together leading critical scholars to address the educational dimensions of the rise of authoritarianism and it relationship to the crises of truth and agency. The discussions details the rise of authoritarian politics and its manifestations, the relationship between the educational trends of the past forty years and their complicity with the cultural and political shifts, and the possibilities of critical pedagogy and the Freirean legacy to foster democratic culture and just social change.
