Session Summary

51.064 - Grant Writing for Motivation Research: A Guide for Early Career Researchers

Sun, April 7, 3:40 to 5:10pm, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Floor: Second Floor, Dominion Ballroom North

Session Type: Workshop

Abstract

Early-career researchers (ECRs) are facing increasing pressure to receive grants. In response to the stated needs of ECRs in the Motivation SIG, the proposed workshop will provide pragmatic guidance about applying for grants that fund motivation research. The panel will bring together diverse scholars who have secured funding for motivation research from different agencies, but who come from different contexts. Each panelist will discuss their experiences and advice about grant-writing, followed by a question-and-answer session addressing specific aspects of motivation-focused grant writing. The session should provide timely professional development to ECRs and students who want to apply for motivation grants. It will also be useful to more senior scholars for their own grant-writing and for improving how they mentor ECRs.
