Sat, April 6, 8:00 to 9:30am, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Floor: Convention Floor, Concert Hall

Session Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

Galapagos is the best-preserved tropical archipelago in the world, but its rich biodiversity is at risk if current social and economic trends and practices continue. In this session, we provide an overview of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of, and research related to, a 5-year project called Education for Sustainability in the Galapagos Islands. The project is a partnership between the Ecuador's Ministry of Education, the Galapagos Governing Council, Fundacion Scalesia, and the Galapagos Conservancy. It can serve as an exemplar collaboration, leading to its replication in other parts of the globe.
