Session Summary

15.019 - Unveiling White "Post-Truth": Applying Innovative Methods in Critical Whiteness Work

Fri, April 5, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 700 Level, Room 710

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In this symposium, a panel of scholars doing critical whiteness work, using diverse and innovative methods within Critical Whiteness Studies, will describe how they use those methods to deconstruct, dismantle, and resist whiteness within education. These methodologies include critical theoretical, portraiture, discourse analysis, and phenomenology. The objective of the session is to explore, promote, and discuss innovative methodological work in Critical Whiteness Studies. As this year’s AERA theme calls for “multimodal narratives to democratize evidence,” this symposium offers just that within Critical Whiteness Studies.
