Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium, scholars from diverse disciplines focus on stewardship projects, curriculum development, and teacher education tied to land and place that are Inuit governed and deeply grounded in Inuit ways of knowing, being and becoming. Indigenous and decolonizing research paradigms are central to all projects, next to a deep commitment to the co-production of observations and curriculum in support of local capacity and leadership building. Two questions guide the session: 1) What kinds of educational practices and opportunities are there today, for Inuit children, youth and their families, to develop tight relationships with land, water, and ice? 2) How can they and their extended families live and experience what Inuit have always known to be true or Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit?
