Abstract

This symposium examines how the International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching (ISATT), one of the largest and most influential organizations focused on teaching and teacher education in the world, fosters reciprocal learning among its members by cultivating their best-loved selves. The work begins with a description of the organization and an introduction to reciprocal learning and best-loved selves, the symposium’s key conceptualizations. After that, researchers from four countries (Canada, Portugal, Spain, USA) present multiple case studies where ISATT members (themselves included) have tangibly learned from others. These animations show what happens when global scholars reach out to one another and transnational/transcultural humanism flourishes within the ISATT organization. This is how best-loved selves become enriched through global learning approached reciprocally.
