Bringing together projects from multiple institutions, this poster symposium presents different approaches to using stories to support science, technology, engineering, and/or math learning in diverse contexts (e.g., libraries, museums, schools.). The symposium will include varying perspectives on how stories are defined and implemented as well as their intended impact. Among the eleven presentations, the types of stories used include scientist/engineer stories about their experiences, the use of storybooks, contextualizing STEM problems into coherent narratives, family stories, and the interconnection between multiple types of stories. The collective work in this symposium contribute to the research literature on STEM learning in different contexts and with multiple populations. Further, the presented work has implications for educational design and practices.
