45.047 - The Current Context for Assessment Education in Preservice Preparatory Programs: A Symposium of International Perspectives

Abstract

In response to global calls for assessment capable teachers, the primary objective of this international symposium is to explore the current context of preservice assessment education in four country regions: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Guiding this symposium are the following questions: (a) How do approaches to teacher assessment education differ within and between country contexts? and (b) What are established and emerging approaches to assessment education across preservice preparatory programs internationally? Through reviews of teacher education programs and related policy documents in each country, the four presentations will begin to map the terrain of teacher education in assessment providing a theoretical and contextual foundation for future empirical studies.
