Abstract

This symposium brings together scholars from around the world to explore how we can use the notion of translanguaging as a conceptual and analytical tool to understand language practices as they appear in non-traditional, non-Anglo locations in Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. Using a mixture of research tools and foci, the papers in this symposium offer new possibilities to retheorize and recontextualize translanguaging as a construct to better understand the role of English as a veritable resource and not an imposition for language users worldwide.
