Session Type: Symposium
This symposium addresses research critically engaged with re-imagining curriculum for innovative, sustainable, and resilient communities. It provides opportunities for researchers across geographical communities (urban and rural, international, Indigenous), disciplines (mathematics education, mathematics, STEM education), and perspectives (land, community, school, Indigenous, higher education) to dialogue on re-imagining mathematics in STEM related fields. Research perspectives include critical collaborative dialogue, decolonizing and Indigenizing theories, participatory action research, critical mathematics education, and land education philosophies. Key questions framing this symposium include: What kinds of perspectives and projects engage mathematical actions toward reaching economic, social and environmental well-being worldwide? What are the challenges and possibilities for mathematical and pedagogical actions for innovative, resilient and culturally rich communities within local and across international contexts?
