Session Type: Symposium
The turn towards practice-based teacher education has been well documented in the US; what has been less well documented are global efforts to create more practice-based teacher education programs. From Chile to Norway, teacher educators have been experimenting with how to reorganize their preparation programs around a set of core practices. This symposium brings together teacher educators and researchers from 5 countries who have been studying this shift. The session will highlight both variability and commonality in how practice-based teacher education is being taken up across different countries and illuminate some of the challenges and opportunities afforded by this approach.
