Tue, April 9, 8:00 to 9:30am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 202B

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

Are postsecondary institutions adapting quickly enough to respond to changing socio-political dynamics ushered in by the 2016/2018 elections and ongoing social movements? The overarching objective of this symposium is to bring together authors of a recently edited book about politics and activism on campus, members of Division J, and the broader AERA scholarly community to discuss and reflect on the intersection of U.S. politics and the role of postsecondary institutions in the wake of the 2018 election. The primary outcome of the session is to have attendees engage in a dialogue that will serves as the basis for the creation of a research and advocacy agenda that will be disseminated via social media to the larger research community.
