Session Type: Symposium
Researchers from four different institutions across the US joined forces to study the effect of recent immigration policies on teaching and learning in PK-12 public schools. Based on findings from the first round of surveys to all-district staff in spring 2018, this symposium explores features of district context that inform educator responses within 4 distinct districts. Online surveys measured changes in school climate, responses to immigration policies, and resources that could support educators to better serve their students through Likert-scale and open-ended items. In the symposium, we discuss each case in turn, before considering cross-cutting themes and overarching findings. We end with a discussion of implications for school and district leaders given the current policy context in which we live.
