Session Type: Symposium
This symposium explores the various literacies, knowledges, and ways of knowing that women and girls of color employ in their everyday lives. These modes of knowledge-production are rooted in the body, relationships, creativity, culture, and care-- all of which are important resources for meaning making. At the same time, they are too often ignored, erased, and/or maligned in formal educational spaces. As such, panelists will discuss how they have drawn on their own raced-gendered ways of knowing to re-center, re-imagine, and re-envision approaches to research and practices of teaching and learning in the field.
