Abstract
Investments in out-of-school time (OST) programs have grown over the past decade and so has the body of evidence suggesting that these programs can make a positive difference for youth in critical developmental domains. Panel participants will present results from recent afterschool and summer learning studies, a mix of qualitative and quantitative studies that expand the research base and support a deeper understanding of OST programs. Panelists will discuss results of studies that impact educator practices, student attitudes and behavior, and student academic and school attainment outcomes. They will discuss the benefits and challenges of examining intermediary and long-term effects.
