21.027 - Mathematics Teachers and Researchers Supporting Student Voice in Mathematics: Collaborative Action Research or Allywork?

Abstract

Through a participatory dialogue on equitable mathematics teaching practices, this session includes four Collaborative Action Research (CAR) projects co-developed by Mathematics Teachers and Mathematics Teacher Educators with the purpose of supporting student voice and perspectives during mathematics teaching and learning. Challenges and affordances of these approaches are presented in posters by participants in each team. After a description of CAR and allywork, each CAR team will share with the audience their project through an interactive gallery walk. During interactions in the walk, the audience will be invited to collect evidence of allywork in the CAR projects. Following a panel of CAR research teachers sharing their project insights, the audience will debrief and share their findings on allywork of CAR projects.
