Abstract

Policy and rhetoric in a post-truth era has indirectly targeted Latinx communities across the U.S., and the hemisphere. The impact of these anti-Latinx policies and rhetoric can be felt within the educational community as schools have become sites of fear, policy-makers continually mute Spanish-language practices, ethnic studies programs are eliminated, and instructional practices reify public anti-Latinx racism. Directly engaging with the socio-political, this interdisciplinary symposium underscores how post-truth anti-Latinx racism emerges across grade levels and disciplines. In doing so, we highlight the imperative to document anti-Latinx racism in education while also exploring modes of resistance and resilience. Framed within a lens of critical bifocality, we argue for the importance of understanding Latinx education within the social and political.
