Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session is designed to provide new insights into the means by which scholars in higher education seek to disrupt the status quo in research practices their countries. Addressing AERA’s theme, “Leveraging Education Research in a ‘Post-Truth’ Era: Multimodal Narratives to Democratize Evidence,” and the International Studies SIG’s focus, the session features three research investigations from Indonesia and Myanmar, Rwanda, and United Kingdom. These investigations interrogate present scholarly practices and offer multimodal narratives that can provide approaches across cultures for research and scholarship. Presenters explore how scholars in higher education in several international contexts and from diverse cultures share common values that provide nuanced and sophisticated progress toward establishing societies committed to high quality research and scholarship.
