Abstract
Whereas traditional models of educational programs primarily focus on the knowledge objectives that students should meet, competency-based education places desired performance outcomes at the forefront of curriculum decisions. The shift towards competency-based education requires an associated shift in the way learning is taught and assessed. This session will discuss challenges to developing assessment systems within a competency-based environment in the health professions.
