Session Type: Off-Site Visit
The Jackman Institute for Child Study (JICS) has for decades been a source of innovation and research in Knowledge Building, a high-profile research program whose emphasis on community knowledge creation has spread globally as pressure grows for education to promote innovation. A visit to JICS K-6 classrooms will provide opportunities to observe Knowledge Building-and Knowledge Forum software that helps sustain it-in action, supporting reading, writing, transliterate practices, meta-discourse and collective responsibility for idea improvement. The visit will end with a student panel; teachers and administrators will also be available to respond to audience questions.
