Abstract
The symposium will use mixed methods to describe how informal STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) help middle school Black boys learn and understand STEM content in safe spaces. The presenters use quantitative and qualitative approaches and data to share multiple narratives of Black male middle school students learning and engaging in STEM content and tools at different HBCUs across the United States.
