Session Type: Paper Session
Today's challenges demand deeper learning and thinking from students and the public, including those challenges associated with human-induced climate change. While climate change is beginning to seriously impact local, regional, and global communities, an increasing availability of information has contributed to what some call a “Post-Truth Era.” Some characterize post-truth as situations where emotions and personal beliefs override scientifically valid lines of evidence and explanations. This paper session features recent educational research examining learners’ thinking and understanding about climate change. The research featured in this session will suggest meaningful ways to effectively teach and learn about climate change consistent with scientific understanding.
