Session Type: Paper Session
Cultural discourses on women and girls of color can range from depictions of hyper-victimization with no trace of hope, to superhero-level stamina with no acknowledgment of structural oppressions and their effects. The papers in this session seek more nuanced portraits of how women of color face unique adversities in educational contexts, yet exercise creative forms of agency to pursue educational and social futures on their own terms.
