Session Summary

79.022 - Injury, Loss, and the (Im)Possibility of Justice in Racially Punitive and (Neo)Colonial Schooling

Tue, April 9, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 700 Level, Room 710

Session Type: Paper Session

Abstract

The promise of safety and progress through education is consistently compromised by the legacies of white supremacy and colonial subjugation in schools. The papers in this session provide poignant and nuanced insights into how these violent legacies manifest. Together, these papers afford a critical consideration of the (im)possibility of justice in educational institutions defined at their very core by injury, loss, and inequity.
