Abstract

Dr. María Torres-Guzmán, una mujer de su tiempo, an activist scholar whose research and teaching addressed social justice issues en su comunidad y en el mundo, while focusing on language and cultural freedom, has passed. This special memorial session honors her wonderful life and work. The session will include opportunities to connect to María’s legacy, hear from some of her life-long friends and colleagues in the field of Bilingual/Bicultural Education, and celebrate her life with music by José-Luis Orozco. Light food and refreshments will be served as part of the celebration.
