This paper presents findings from a secondary analysis of interview data from a larger qualitative study that utilized a phenomenological approach to examine the experiences of assistant professors of color at four-year public and private institutions nationwide. This study in particular utilizes a Critical race feminism perspective to explore how academia impacted the health and well-being of the 33 women faculty of color in the larger study, as they navigated the tenure track. Key findings align with and expand upon relevant literature related to the negative social, psychological, and physical impact that academia can have on women faculty of color and some of the efforts they utilized to get or stay physically and mentally healthy.
