Developing the Nonclinical Workforce of the Future: An Evaluative Research Project

Tue, April 21, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

An evaluative research project of a training programme for Care Navigators was undertaken. The overall objectives were to identify appropriate ways to develop competencies of a community-based Care Navigator and to measure the impact and sustainability of the training programme, which was based on a competency framework for the non-clinical workforce developed by Tavabie and Simms (2016). Mixed methods methodology was used where data was collected through questionnaires and interviews from all stakeholders. The programme was well received however challenges were identified. Impact on knowledge, skills and practice have been identified however impact on clinicians’ workload was not noticeable at the time of the evaluation. The programme was rated sustainable.
