The Internet and College Knowledge: Exploring Black Youth's Experiences With College Prep Websites

Abstract

The Internet has the potential to connect students with valuable information about college. In this qualitative case study, the researcher draws on interviews with eight students to explores how Black high school juniors in one college preparatory program use websites to develop college knowledge. Data suggests that students use websites to find general information about college but prefer to learn about college through in-person conversations with peers and mentors.
