This study emphasizes the role of Researcher-Practitioner Relationship in educational game design and implementation process. To solve the persistent problems in teaching and learning linear measurement skills, a sample game was developed collaboratively among instructors, software developers, and researchers through University-Elementary School cooperation. A model of iterative and systematic research involving multiple stakeholders was demonstrated through the proposed game design method and procedures. To assess the game’s efficacy, 283 students in grades 3 to 5 were randomly assigned into game-based learning and conventional classroom teaching conditions for comparison. Both quantitative and qualitative results suggest that the sample game generated greater students’ growth in linear measurement skills and learning motivation compared to conventional teaching.
