Exploring Preservice Teachers' Professional Vision When Planning Lessons and Lesson Templates' Affordances for Organizational Collaboration

Mon, April 20, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

A lesson plan template was developed collaboratively by researchers and organizational leaders of teacher education to increase coherence between training phases, as well as foster pre-service teachers' abilities to use theoretical knowledge when planning lessons and address needs of refugee communities. By means of case analysis, the abilities to apply theoretical knowledge when planning lessons and their relationships with professional vision skills (PV) were examined in N = 20 pre-service teachers at the end of their first study year. The results revealed that pre-service teachers with the highest lesson plan scores showed higher PV than those cases with the lowest scores. This study also shows the potential of lesson plan templates to facilitate organizational collaboration for educational problem solving.
