Tue, April 21, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Although data shows that black males are vastly overrepresented among students who are suspended and disciplined in formal systems of education, it also reveals that adverse environmental and systemic conditions conspire to lock black men out of paths to success. The research presented is a new theoretical framework for observing the racialized realities minoritized peoples encounter in formal organizations grounded in societies of white domination. Ethnology Organizational Experiences Framework (EOEF) is a framework for understanding how pressures from society constitutes social and cultural environments that determine how black people experience formalize systems. Using Erikson’s Stage Six: “Intimacy vs. Isolation” as a foundation, we sought to examine how organizational barriers and actors restrict black males’ relationship formation and access organizational resources.
