A Mixed-Method Study on an Augmented Reality Application for Providing Guidance on New Technologies in Emerging Learning Spaces

Tue, April 21, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This paper proposes a convergent mixed methods research on augmented reality (AR) application for providing guidance in emerging learning spaces. The purpose of this study is to explore users’ perspectives regarding the AR app’s effectiveness, which enables users to learn new technologies. Users can use this mobile app to scan the technological device they wish to learn about. Afterward, their mobile screen will display multimedia instructions and guide them through using that device. The quantitative and qualitative data will be collected through interviews, observations, artifacts, and pre- and post- surveys. The results will illustrate whether AR improves users’ learning achievement. This study will guide teachers to implement AR in educational settings as well as help instructional designers improve multimedia instructions.
