This quasi-experimental study with pre-service teachers explored the potential for increased creativity and scientific knowledge in skulls paintings when using science integration into arts courses. The creative traits analysis suggested that participants in the art-focused condition exhibited greater creativity in their artwork, while the scientific content analysis suggested that participants in the science-focused condition had higher scores for scientific details. Significant positive correlation was found between condition type and scientific concepts scores and the science-focused condition predicted those scores in the artwork. Attitude survey scores were similar for both conditions and the short answers indicated positive attitudes and desire for such exercises, regardless of skill and experience. This suggests science integration into art courses to be educational and enjoyable.
