Abstract

Open pedagogy is as an important trend in the current open education movement. This research aimed to address the need for developing open pedagogy models in higher education to guide instructors in designing similar pedagogical practices. Following the case study method, students’ perspectives on the benefits and challenges of the open pedagogy approaches were examined in the context of three higher education courses in a land-grant public research university. The qualitative analysis of students’ reflection reports and semi-structured interviews revealed six themes that conceptualized students’ experiences with the open pedagogy approaches: Open access literacy, content curation, knowledge sharing, peer review and feedback, reflection, and scaffolding. An open pedagogy in action model is presented.
