This study investigates high school design and implementation characteristics associated with increased student interest in STEM careers and likelihood of entry into a STEM major in college. Analyses used a combination of survey data collected by the research team and administrative data maintained in state data systems. School leader and student survey data were provided by 53 schools from North Carolina and Texas. Of these, 29 were inclusive STEM high schools and 24 were comparison schools recruited from other state high schools serving students comparable to those in an ISHS in the study sample.
