Asian American Youth Organizing in the Era of Racial Capitalism: Antiblackness, Settler Colonialism, and the (Im)Possibilities of Solidarities in San Francisco

Abstract

This paper is an ethnographic study focused on racial solidarity efforts of the Asian American Organizing Collective, an Asian American youth organizing project based in San Francisco. Through a mental health campaign, AAOC youth organizers' lifted up the experiences of Black and Native students to produce demands on the district that centered a definition of mental health that accounts for issues of anti-Blackness and settler colonialism.
