The social facet of teacher-ethos integrates values to form positive teacher-student relationships. Positive teacher-student relationships affect students’ emotional-experience positively (Seifried and Sembill, 2005). From a students’ perspective, a positive teacher-student relationships is perceived through appreciation (Wilkins, 2006). This contribution investigates to what extent appreciation is observable in teachers’ and students’ behavior. Furthermore, it will be examined how appreciation is connected to students' emotional-experience and their evaluation of teacher-student relationship. To answer these questions, data from a video study (18 lessons; vocational schools; 53 students), from a questionnaire regarding the teacher-student relationship, and from a continuous-state sampling concerning students’ emotional-experiences were analyzed. Preliminary results indicate that there are appreciative students that assess the teacher-student relationship and the emotional-experiences better than others.
