What Comes Before Collaboration: Exploring the Politics of Becoming

Abstract

In response to the EE SIG theme, we propose to explore ways that EE researchers might challenge themselves to re-engage their fundamental predispositions concerning root concepts of activism-action-becoming prior engaging collaborative action projects. New theories of human intra-action have generated several concepts such as “ontologies of immanence,” “assemblage/haecceity,” and “diffraction.” These concepts could have potential in environmental contexts as precursors for collaborative work where participants have the ethical charge of trying to think differently or to get free of themselves (within a “politics of becoming”).
In this paper presentation we engage in discussions of examples of how to keep our subjectivities in play and mobile in elaborating new relationships that can make collaborations more genuine and productive.
