Measuring Parental Engagement

Abstract

Research has shown that the family engagement may have a direct relationship with achievement at the individual level, but how exactly is engagement defined and how is engagement measured? Using data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, I seek to build on the family engagement literature by clarifying the definition and representation of parental engagement and proposing two indices for measurement.
