The Effect of Barriers and Motivation on Academic Achievement for Female Graduate Students

Abstract

This study explored the effect of barriers and motivation on achievement of female graduate students in academic career. A total of 54 female students participated in the study. Frequency, correlation and regression analysis were conducted to examine main research questions. The results presented that participants perceived financial problem and job market constraints as influential barriers on academic achievement. Results showed that the higher perceived motivation and the lower perceived barriers, the higher academic confidence participants perceived. Motivation was more contributable factor than degree of perceived barriers. This study implied the importance of practical support for female students focusing on encouraging motivation and decreasing real-world difficulties in every life.
