Comadridad: Creando Partnerships in Mathematics con Confianza, Respeto, Cariño, y Humildad

Abstract

In this paper, through our testimonios, we hope to counter dominant narratives about what it means to have a learning teacher and researcher partnership. A written testimonio provides an avenue for those who have been historically silenced to speak their truth (Delgado-Bernal et. al, 2012). As researchers, educators, matemáticas y mujeres of color our objective is to highlight the need to build comunidad through comadridad. We introduce the concept of comadridad as necessary and sufficient to create genuine partnerships in communities of color. We argue that comadridad is encompassed by confianza, respeto, cariño y humildad along with a continued commitment towards social and racial justice.
