The oppressive legislative policies and polarizing media narratives of Latinx immigrants have further marginalized undocumented college students. My critical ethnographic case study investigates the everyday experiences of undocumented Latinx students at a large, public, research-intensive university in Arizona, a state that borders Mexico, as they pursue their undergraduate degrees in the Trump era. This study is guided by critical race theory, sense of belonging, and active citizenship theoretical frameworks, and highlights how race and racism shape undocumented students’ collegiate experiences, where this community finds belongingness, and how these scholars exercise their agency via active citizenship.
