A Predictive Model of College Enrollment for Students With Autism: Insights From a National Survey

Abstract

The population of college students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has been growing rapidly in recent years. However, only a fraction of students with autism who expect to go to college actually matriculate. In light of this discrepancy, our study aims to build a predictive model of college enrollment for this population of students. Drawing on a secondary analysis of the National Longitudinal Transition Study 2 (NLTS2), our predictive model offers a glimpse into the transition from high school to college for students with ASD. Further, the model provides practical implications aimed at enhancing educational practices that allow students with ASD achieve their college aspirations.
