Because our American communities, schools and universities are more diverse today, it has become crucial that educators, researchers and organizational stakeholders collaborate to serve the public good and advance research on equity. The purpose of this qualitative exploratory study was to examine how educational leaders in an urban school district transferred equity knowledge to their schools after attending a pilot Equity Fellows Program (EFP) for 10 months. If members of educational and organizational communities become equity literate, they will model equity practices and overtime alter their peers’ mindsets, reactions and actions. Using the Multidimensional Model of Learning Transfer (MMLT) as a theoretical framework, this study sought to understand what inhibited and supported the transfer of new equity knowledge.
