Mapping the National Rural Education Association's Research Priorities Onto the Rural Education Research Literature

Sun, April 19, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

This mapping review overlays the research priorities of the National Rural Education Association onto the current body of rural education research. This paper describes the process of identifying the presence of NREA research priorities in the literature and the extent to which each priority is represented. Analysis determined that while all priority areas are addressed to some extent in the literature, they are found in a minority of studies in rural education research as a whole. Additionally, within the subset of studies that did address NREA research priorities, a significant percentage were clustered under a single priority. The paper concludes with recommendations for research and cautions against the assumption of overrepresentation in the literature based on this analysis.
