The Effect of Demographics on Graduate Student Mobility

Sat, April 18, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

This study aims to describe trends in the behavior of students considering a graduate degree. School choice is a topic that is often studied in admissions and enrollment management and one factor that may influence the college selection process is distance. This study seeks to investigate further by using a nationally representative large dataset to describe the relationship between various student demographics and distance between applicants and graduate institutions. By using GRE score sender data from calendar years 2015 through 2017, this study addresses the research question of how mobility trends of graduate applicants differ between demographic groups.
