Abstract

The Post-qualitative turns in the field of qualitative inquiry have opened up new directions for research. They offer alternative ontological positionings and question intentions and practices of humanist qualitative research projects. The values of the traditional humanist are not only critiqued but often left behind. Without clearly articulated values and ethical orientations, one runs the risk of acting inconsistently, indeterminately, and ineffectively during the crises of our present. From our perspective, the post-qualitative moment can function as an invitation to reconsider, and more importantly, to decenter the human in educational research. This means, of course that the human remains included in the qualitative research endeavor, but not as a way to foster a science of the human.
