Abstract

Using a CRT and LatCrit framework, this research focuses on the lived experiences of three Latina teachers and their experiences during and after their teacher education program in the Deep South. The research questions explore: What stories do Latina teachers have of their experiences during and after their teacher education program in the Deep South? What type of experiences have contributed to and/or obstructed the growth of Latina pre-service teachers during and after their teacher education program? Thus far, findings suggest the need for an understanding of critical consciousness and transformative resistance, and increased opportunities to engage in critical reflection and dialogue, to include meaningful collaboration with other Teachers of Color, and a regional or national organization for Latinx educators.
