Exploring Socialization and Teaching Self-Efficacy Through a Community of Practice for International Teaching Assistants

Abstract

International teaching assistants experience unique linguistic, cultural, social, and academic challenges in graduate school (Ashavskaya, 2015). Communities of Practice can help with socialization and academic integration (Cox & McDonald, 2017). This study examined the impact of a CoP designed to socialize ITAs, create a sense of belonging, and improve teaching self-efficacy.
